These sites have historically been burdened by the handling of large volumes of fuel and pose an increased risk to drinking water sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project covers dozens of sites across the Czech Republic and is one of the most extensive and longest-running remediation projects in the field of oil pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The remediation was based on a combination of exploration, remediation, and monitoring work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>detailed exploration of the extent of contamination in both saturated and unsaturated zones,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>design and implementation of remediation technologies <strong>in-situ<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>long-term monitoring of groundwater quality,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of remediation measures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Result<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A gradual and systematic approach led to a significant reduction in contamination and the protection of strategically important drinking water sources.
